About Twice as Nice

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity with the mission of collecting professional and dressy attire to benefit disadvantaged teens. Thanks to many generous in-kind donations, the drive has provided thousands of items to disadvantaged teens since 2009.  These items are pricey and cost prohibitive for most disadvantaged teens. Providing these items at no charge to teens allows them to have one less obstacle in interviewing for jobs, participating in business and debate clubs and attending their school dances and special events.  This fosters a sense of confidence and inclusion and allows the teens to create great memories by fostering self-confidence and happiness in their lives.

Twice as Nice collects donations from various school drives and from the community at large.

The drive began at Bishop Gorman High School. Juliana Remark and Lindsey Remark, twin sisters, inspired to make a difference, started the drive in 2009 as a philanthropic service project at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada to benefit homeless youth at Rancho High School and Prom Closet for disadvantaged youth.  That same year Brittany Remark expanded the drive to her junior high school.

Mrs. Portz, Director of Campus Ministry, has mentored and supervised the drive at Bishop Gorman and was an integral to the success and growth of the drive.  Many others have donated and assisted in the drive's success that has collected thousands of items from students and alumni of Bishop Gorman   Maureen Di Federico, Jodi Berger, Shayna Berger and Maggie Di Federico joined the Gorman drive effort in 2012.  Brittany Remark, Sara Di Federico and Samantha DiFederico, Noale Bossart, Brandon Haddad and Tatum Rowand continued the drive at Bishop Gorman which continues to benefit Rancho High School homeless youth and Prom Closet through Project 150.

The Remark twins, after their graduation from Gorman, continued their outreach efforts in New York City at Columbia University and NYU Medical School.

Brittany Remark led the organization from 2014 -2018 as President.  She obtained 501(c)(3) public charity status from the IRS and expanded the collection effort community wide. Brittany also expanded the drive to include professional wear as many teens need job interview clothing.  She established relationships with local merchants that act as collecting and donation promoting stations. She also facilitated donations by picking them up year round! Brittany has also established an internet presence to increase donations. She was named a Prudential Spirit of Community Distinguished Finalist for her philanthropic leadership and service and received a commendation from Nevada Governor Sandoval. She will continue her outreach efforts in NYC at Columbia University beginning in the fall.

Beginning in 2018, Jordyn Cambeiro will become the new Las Vegas/ Henderson area leader!  Jordyn is in 7th grade at LVDS!

The participants' volunteerism has been recognized by the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award Commendations, the State of Nevada,  Soroptimist Volunteer Leadership Awards and the US Government's President Volunteer Service Awards.

Please donate your gently used items and they will be twice as nice the second time around!
